Research Impact at Barts Health
Research impact reporting is increasingly important. While impact is often reported through university and funder processes, many impacts arising from research at Barts Health are not routinely captured by the Trust.
If your research has influenced patient care, clinical practice, services, policy, innovation, funding, education or wider health outcomes, please tell us about it.
Capturing impact helps us demonstrate the value of research, meet reporting requirements, attract future investment and celebrate research achievements at Barts Health.
Following are the examples research impact that can be reported:
- Changes to clinical practice or patient pathways
- Improvements in patient outcomes or experience
- Improvements to services or service delivery
- Influence on policy, guidelines, or decision-making
- Adoption of findings by healthcare organisations
- Additional research funding secured
- Development of new technologies, diagnostics, or treatments
- Education, training, or workforce development
- Public engagement and awareness activities
Impact may emerge months or years after a study has finished, so we welcome updates whenever new impacts arise.
Reporting impact helps Barts Health:
- Demonstrate the value of research
- Meet reporting requirements
- Attract future investment and partnerships
- Support implementation of research findings
- Celebrate the achievements of our staff and partners
- Build a research-active and innovative culture
