How to set-up a Devolved School Research Ethics Committee

Chairs in rows

A devolved school research ethics committee (DSREC) can be set up to review low-risk applications within a specific School or Department, covering either all or specific groups of researchers, (i.e. staff, post-graduate research, post-graduate taught and undergraduate students).

DSRECs coordinate the review and approval of all low-risk applications submitted for DSREC review, including all requests to amend and extend existing approved applications.

Staff, Supervisors and Module Leaders can apply to form a DSREC for low-risk research studies.

Applications for a DSREC will initially be screened by Facilitators and submitted to the next DSREC sub-committee meeting or QMERC Main meeting for review.

If you are interested in setting up a DSREC, contact the team to discuss.
